KATHY

I have been part of Robert’s journey
in discovering and developing AKUDU and the magical ‘edge’.

I use AKUDU as a daily practice to clear my mind
and bring my attention to the moment, the here and now.

I use it to release myself from bodily tension and strain.
I use it so that my strong emotional nature
no longer gets in the way during any activity.

And I use it to take the pressure off
and de-stress minute to minute.

I find that all my daily activities have been
powerfully influenced by my AKUDU practice.
Some of the simplest things that have improved for me
have been the most rewarding.

I can walk further easier. My ordinary movements
are freed up and light. I breathe better.

And now, I can even keep my face in the water when I swim...

I have been able to overcome my fear of public
speaking which used to paralyse me every time.

AKUDU for me has been like having a fresh start.
Using it is so direct and immediate that I feel like
I can have a fresh start again at every moment.

As a trained AKUDU practitioner I have introduced
many of my clients to ‘the edge’.

It has helped them release physical strain and pain.
I have watched it calm their emotions and bring
stillness to their internal chatter.

It places them in the ideal state for allowing change
and self discovery to occur.

This state is essential for counselling and psychological work.

Kathy Macleod

I am a Psychologist with many years of professional experience
with clients of all ages.
I am a Member of the Australian Psychological Society
and have a teaching qualification.

I commenced private practice in a part time capacity in 1991
while working as a School Psychologist in the private sector.
Since 2002 I have been in full-time private practice.

I have experience working with people in the following areas:
> Anxiety, panic and stress management.
> Phobias/fears.
> Depression.
> Grief and loss.
> Recent or past crisis and traumatic events.
> Life transitions e.g. job or school change,
relationship changes, retirement, loss;
> Habits and addictions, eg, smoking, nail biting, alcohol.
> Relationship issues including parenting problems,
step-family and separation issues.
> Weight loss.
> Work issues, including bullying, burnout,
employer sponsored employee counseling
> Adolescent and childhood issues.

My approach to treatment integrates understandings and skills
from Rogerian Client-Centred Therapy, Solution-Focussed Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Hypnotherapy, Thought Field Therapy (TFT) and Akudu.
I believe that each of us has resources to deal with
our specific life issues and difficulties.

My role is to facilitate the discovery of these inner resources
and to work with you to resolve issues,
develop new skills and create the changes you want.

I choose approaches that are individualized and empowering.
Self directed strategies are taught.
My focus is on health rather than pathology,
on action rather than analysis,
on generating solutions rather than focusing on causes.

Counselling and Psychotherapy
Counselling and psychotherapy involves the development
of a secure and trusting relationship between the therapist and the client.

In an environment that is safe, respectful,
confidential and non-judgemental, doubts and fears can be shared.

Supportive and validating, the counselling situation allows
personal difficulties and concerns to be explored and released.
New solutions can be created.

Counselling and psychotherapy involves a process of personal discovery
and growing awareness of limiting beliefs and habitual
ways of thinking and reacting.

Our beliefs about how to think, feel and act in the world
are established from our early learning and experiences.

They are often no longer helpful and can be undermining our attempts
to establish the relationships, the career, the life we desire.

By learning ways to change old patterns that are no longer helpful,
that no longer reflect the you that you want to be,
you regain the ability to move forward in life.

You discover new and fulfilling ways to be your self.
