But real stress is marked by certain physiological
alterations. It’s not just feeling resentful, overloaded or simply
“pissed off”. What we call the ’fight or flight’
response provides the classic markers for true stress.
Your heart rate
increases and your blood pressure goes up. You may start to sweat.
You breathe more rapidly. Fight flight chemicals flood your
bloodstream. You are acting or about to act in response to a
perceived problem or situation.
This is stage one stress. It
might even do you good! It can be stimulating and system clearing.
But if you put off your actions and avoid dealing with this stage
then you develop into stage two stress.
Here you feel driven or
pressured. You experience tiredness and fatigue. Real anxiety
kicks in. Those chemicals and others continue to unbalance your
system. Your memory cracks up as your brain struggles. It is ‘too
big an ask’ and symptoms of illness start to appear. It is
doing you no good at all!
If you still fail to fix it then you
wind up in stage three. Stage three stress brings you real harm.
It becomes a contributor to heart disease, breathing difficulties and
other chronic body ailments. Difficulty in sleeping, mental
disturbances, panic attacks, anxiety, errors in judgement and
personality changes.
Basically, stress starts with your own perception. What you think
about a situation, how you feel, makes it a positive excitement or a
negative stress. Makes it challenging or frightening. makes it
playful and friendly or an abuse. So no one can really fix your
stress except you!
You can FIX YOUR OWN STRESS! Amazingly
there is something called the RELAXATION RESPONSE. Yep, it’s the
opposite of the stress response!
Of course, it is self induced as
well. By triggering the relaxation response You can FIX YOUR OWN
STRESS!
